Description
-----------
The ID LOGIC « SW Simulator for Windows ("Software") simulates
the shortwave receiver of the (near) future which will permit the
automatic scanning for a station by name, language, schedule and
other attributes.
ID LOGIC SW receivers will contain an in-receiver database which
will be updated by the broadcasters themselves via digital
updates.
This Simulator contains the schedules of:
- the BBC World Service
- the Voice of America
- Radio France Internationale
- Deutsche Welle
- Radio Netherlands
- Radio Canada International
- Radio Austria International
ALL SCHEDULES WERE PROVIDED BY THE BROADCASTERS THEMSELVES.
--------------------
Minimum Requirements
--------------------
The ID LOGIC SW Simulator for MS Windows requires the following:
- IBM PC compatible machine;
- MS Windows Version 3.1 or later;
- Microsoft (or compatible) mouse;
- Display minimum: 540x480 x 256 colors (64k preferred);
------------------
Very Brief History
------------------
ID LOGIC is a scanning/tuning system which permits the user to
1) automatically identify any tuned-in station
2) scan for a station by station attribute such as format
(e.i. type of music), callsign, language, etc.
PRS started to develop ID LOGIC in 1986. The first product was the
ID LOGIC Module for AM/FM radio receivers for use in North America
(which is today on the N.Am market in several receivers).
We have licensed SONY, MATSUSHITA (Panasonic/Technics),
PIONEER, KENWOOD, ALPINE, SANYO, CLARION, JVC, and others.
In 1993, ID LOGIC was integrated in the Radio Broadcast Data System
(RBDS) standard issued by the National Radio Systems Committee (NRSC)
on January 8, 1993. (This is the U.S. version of the European
RDS standard.)
Since 1992 we have been working with the BBC World Service and the
Voice of America to develop an ID LOGIC version for shortwave receivers.
This informal open consortium has since been joined by many international
broadcasters and we expect it will continue to grow very rapidly.
There, the idea is to permit SW listeners to tune to a station by
pressing at most two buttons (one for the desired broadcaster,
the other for the desired language) to access an in-receiver database
of scheduling data which will be maintained and refreshed by digital
transmissions from the broadcasters themselves.
